JANUAR 2012
Ich wünsche allen ein Besonderes Jahr 2012 mit Funkeln, Glitzer, Erfolg und wenig Stress.
Aber am allermeisten, und das meine ich ernst...., den Los Angeles Hippie Slogan 1970:
LOVE, PEACE AND HAPPINESS
DEZEMBER 2011

This is the story of making this teaser pic of a simit

for an owner of a very nice restaurant around the corner from our flat. He is looking for a photographer who makes new pics for his menu. O.K., I took my self builded M39 to M42 Corona f 1:3,5 lens

and my idea of a lightning setup like this

which looks like that in real live.

Well, it is made to show which result I would prefer and that I do not need a lot of space to make that.
We will see.........

Back in Ankara from the christmas snow chaos in Germany and boom : into the bed for a few days with a pretty nice flue ! But now it is going better and at last it was a good time to surf around in the internet. I found a nice site from the dutch photographer Frank Doorhof and from time to time in his studio is a live shooting. Also the blog is nice . Find it here and enjoy.
Yours Stefan

This is not a picture of a nice sunset. It is taken at 2:30 p.m. and what seems like a romantic scene is a thing called brown cloud. You can find it in many citicentres on earth (specially in those which ara not that ultra modern) and you can see it from a far distance. A satellite can take a pretty nice picture of this brown cloud too. Here in Ankara the cloud starts in November and it will not end till May. I think there are too many (old) cars on the road and in additional to that there are in wintertime a lot of stoves which are working with wood and cole. I know, that there is a good CO2 balance when you burn wood for heating, but if there are hundredthousands of stoves.......
That means for me that the outdoor mountainbiking season is over and I have to go to the gym again.

By the way, nice idea to combine a stove, a hairdryer and a place for reading a good book...... and I am nor sure, wether it can be used as a house phone, then it is a 4 in 1 !

This is my cell phone story in Turkey. When we arrived in Ankara I bought a turkcell prepaid card for my cell phone. In this 18 month I had to go to 3 several offices to make registrations. And I had to go for 17 times. I always needed my IMEI number, my passport and my residence permit for foreigners. I went there because they cut the line. I went there because they took money for nothing from my account. Then I went there, because they cut the line. Then I went there a second and a third time for the same thing because their internet line broke down. In December 2009 I bought a new cell phone in Germany. And then I had to go to the registration office again. And again. Now, in April, I got a message : “We will cut the line. Please make a registration.”

I had to go to the registration office again and they sent me to an other office in Kizilay . And because they gave me the wrong address, it took nearly two hours. There I had a 20 minute phone call there with a nice man (the stuff in the office do not speak English). He was not able to help, but he gave me an address, where I can make the registration. And when I left the office there was a nice man outside there, smoking. “Everything ok? “ he asked friendly. I answered “Oh, thank you. I had a long talk with your college and he helped me.” The answer was: “It was not a college, it was me.” This guy was all the time 2 meters away from me at his desk. And the address he gave me – was wrong. But I found the technical centre of the government.
The high professional service (in the waiting zone for visitors...) said: “Only one phone. One number, one cell phone. For two years. Try to make a new registration at the first shop.”
Totally exhausted of that I answered:” Oh no, thank you. In a few months I will leave the country. Good night and good luck.” “Thank you very much.“ she answered.
A bit frustrated I went home by bus. And two seats in front of me there was an old women (may be from Paschlukistan) and she played with her iphone, full of apps……….

In addition to the text below this, I have to say, that not all of the kids of Ulus are friendly and nice. Look here:

At the first sight a harmless and funny scene. But you have to know, that showing the sole of your shoe is a considered rude in this culture. It is like showing the Effenberg finger in our culture. But they are young boys full of energy and at least, the boy on the right side felt a bit embarrassing..........
And here is an Ulus overview for all of you, who thougt Ulus is only two or three blocks.

In the foreground you can see the top of a small hil, then in the middle a small valley and then hills again. After that, there ia another valley and another hill.

INFORMATION ABOUT KIDS OF ULUS
Three weeks ago I read in the newspaper this horror story:
In the southeast part of Turkey a father killed his daughter. He slapped and punched her over years before she went to the police. The police officer of that village brought her back with the words: What a daughter, makes a report to the police which brings the own father in trouble.
To make a long story short: a few days later they found this girl after the father made a funeral with her . When the forensic medicine opened her body, they found out two things : a) there was a lot of ground in the lungs, which means she was alive when her father put her in this hole in the ground and b) there was a lot of ground in her stomach, which means it took a very long time to die.
The father is in jail now and the mother of this poor girl is crying all the day, of course. And the mother has not even a photo of her daughter because nobody made a photography of the girl. She was 16 years old and her name was Medina.
Around the castle in Ankara is the Oldtown of Ankara and it is called Ulus. The people there are realy poor. I would not go so far to say slum to this area, but the direction ist wright. Look here.

I went up to Ulus and made some photos of the kids there. I wanted to find out, wether they like photos or not, wether they like me or not. One week later , I went again to Ulus with the photoprints in my bag. I gave them to each of the kids and in a minute there was a festival around me. They hold the pics up like treasures and shouted all the time. And I thought to myself : TO BE CONTINUD

Ok. There is no way to save show. The male wild dog in my park is dead. The female wild dog is not pregnant. She is very thin and alone. In this shape she will not see the next summer. I don’t know what happened. The cave in the park is empty, of course.
I think this is the point, where I have to over think my strategy for this website. I think,
to tell what I will photograph in the future is a train to nowhere.
I remember last summer. I meat a big boss of an energy-wind-mill-construction company and he said:” OK guy. You will make a lot of pictures for us. This year we will make another 80 projects and you are our photographer. For internet and catalogs. Congratulation. “
I was really happy about this and I told everyone, who like to hear that or not, of my luck.
At least, we had only some emails and no contract. After a while I heard nothing from this big-boss-boy and I felt like a clown. So, I will do that better. For sure.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today I found this place in the Park. First pic is an overview and you can see point 1 which is the cave of the dogs. Point 2 is the lunch of the dogs, which people bring from time to time. This is the rest of some chicken. The wall on the left side is the backside of an embassy, that's why there are cameras and barbed wire.

Last winter , there was a dog pack living in "my" park. I saw the puppies growing up and then they were all gone. Yesterday I saw both alphas back again. I think, this time I will make some pics of them. Last year, I thought I would disturb them too much. But they are living in the middle of a 4 million poeple city. And at least, they are much more smaller than the Kangals............

Project "Hotel Cankaya" is canceld. I thought , I would go to neptun to make some pics in this house under construction. 10 years ago , the money trickled away and the workers went home. Nothing happened since that day. Believe me, the brown colour around the windows in no lacquer......
My idea was a bw-series looking outside the empty rooms. But they are not empty. 4 Kangal dogs are living there. 70 cm and 60 kg each. And they do not like people, who are walking through their dining room. And I'm sure, if I try to make a sausage deal with one of them, my hand is gone.
